Student Assignment Plan (1st Choice window – Jan. 17-Feb 24th)
“Jan. 17, 2012 - If you are (have)a parent wanting to choose a new school for your child to attend next year, the new school choice selection process begins at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17. The first round of the choice selection period runs until Friday, Feb. 24. During that time, if you are new or returning to the school system, the parent of a rising kindergartner, or a parent who wants to change schools for next year, you may log onto the student assignment website, assignment.wcpss.net, investigate your options and make your choices.
Promotion and Interventions
We will be coming to grade level meetings to talk about the data they are reviewing on the students who are struggling and will receive the promotion and intervention letter. Let us know when your team will be meeting in the next two weeks, so admin will be involved in the discussion.
PLT Facilitators Meeting
Grade level PLT Facilitators will be having a two hour work session on (Monday January 23rd) on supporting OCE Professional Learning Teams. We will be discussing agendas (what are items to discuss), strategies to delegate work/tasks, hold each other accountable, and other topics are brought by the team. Thank you to all of our WONDERFUL teacher assistants that will provide teacher coverage at this time.
You Tube
Please be sure that students are closely monitored when they are on the computer, especially when they are searching or viewing on-line. One example at OCE (and at other WCPSS schools) is YouTube. Students are able to access videos (non-educational) that are not appropriate for their viewing pleasures. Please be diligent in making sure to redirect them. BYOD - Bring your own device
This question has been brought up many people and it is a great idea – “can students bring
in their own electronic devices to be used for their learning. Such devices are (not limited to)Nooks, Kindles, IPADS, etc. As of right now, the answer is no, but we are getting more feedback and information from tech service here is their
email response – “Staff in Academics and Technology Services are beginning the process of BYOD. There will need to be minimum
requirements set for devices as well as policy updates - not to mention a curriculum that provides effective use”. Athena C. Kellogg Director - Curriculum Management &Resource Development
