It’s hard to believe it’s already February. If you have not scheduled your PDP conference, please do so ASAP.
Promotion/Intervention
If your grade level has not scheduled the promotion/intervention meeting with an administrator, it needs to take place this week. The letters need to go home by the end of this week.
Level 4 opportunities for all students..Blooms Taxonomy – What kind of questions are we asking our students on a daily basis?
Response to Intervention (minutes from Admin Friday)
As we discussed in our Admin Friday, many discussions among teachers need to take place as a child continues to work towards grade level success in the Response to Intervention model. Identifying the foundational skill deficit, developing the goal and aimline (goal line/target line), fidelity of the implementation of the intervention, progress monitoring, and discussion of the team are the components of RtI.
· Data collection via universal screenings, common assessments, etc (done in the classroom)
· Analyze data (Formative and Summative assessments ) – done in PLTs and self-reflection
· Dig Deeper assessments on students that didn’t do well on particular skills (via morning work, county assessment, team/teacher created assessments)
· Review and discuss findings in digging deeper assessments in PLTs– “crew talk”, being (or continue) to progress monitor once fundamental skills in identified
· Progress monitoring (three weeks) review findings with team – “mate talk” done during a planning period (not all of the team is required to be at all mate talks. Review interventions and modify frequency if little to no progress, also grade level chair would contact Kathy Evans to add student to the “SST watch list”– progress monitor for three weeks.
· After 2 three week progress monitoring, team has a second “mate talk” focused on this student during planning time. If interventions are success, then continue with them (as well as progress monitoring). If they are unsuccessful modify frequency, duration or intervention. Grade chair alerts Kathy that there is a student that would benefit from an SST meeting.
· Continue providing intervention, progress monitoring, adjusting if little or no progress is made prior to SST meeting.
Communication with Parents
All of you do a great job keeping parents informed of how their child is doing. That said, we are entering into a busy time of year and sometimes this might be the one thing that we put at the bottom of our list. If the child is involved in a “scuffle” during the day and you handle it, give the parents a “head’s up” either through a note, e-mail or phone call before the child gets home. We are finding more children who are NOT involved are going home telling their parents who then call the other parents and well…you get the picture. Think the game of ‘Telephone’ and you are right. It will save time in the end.

Track in Meeting for Track 3
Wednesday February 8th, all certified track 3 teachers are to be present for the track in meeting from 10:00-12:00 in the conference room. Topics to be discussed Response to Intervention, Leap into Literacy, and strategies for promoting high growth for all students. Note the meeting will be two hours in length.
School Improvement Plan
· Literacy Committee meeting this coming Friday, February 10th at 8:00 AM. We will meet in the media center to discuss the SIT goal.
· Behavior Clipper Team (Climate) goal will be sending out a google.doc survey to be completed by students, parents, and staff. All three surveys will be different, anonymous and will assist the behavior team in creating a climate goal to be discussed as a school.
Common Core – Math Strands
See Kathy’s email about details of the fourth and fifth (of 8) math strands. Please use some of your PLT or grade level time to discuss the changes in the math curriculum for next school year.

Emergency Sub Plans
Thank you to those of you who have lesson plans that provide good information that can be followed by anyone at anytime. Unfortunately the flu bug is beginning to hit Olive Chapel which means that it could "hit" you or one of your families. It is essential there are sub plans ready to go and we are not scrambling to put something together at the last minute. Lesson plans need to be on your desk* each day in case SST or an IEP meeting runs late and we need to send a TA into your room. Having everything ready to start the day is crucial to the success of everyone. The schedule for the day (week), important health information, any accommodations for students, co-workers who can answer questions, most current emergency route for fire drill, etc. should also be in a sub folder on your desk.
*If you are one of many who keep your plans on the computer, which is fine, just let us know who will be printing the plans for the day. That way we can support them as well.
Something to think about....If you were a substitute walking into a high school classroom.."What would you want?" Stay well and use lots of antibacterial soap.
