Good Bye and Thank you!

This Wednesday, 9/12, is Mr. Langley's last day with us at OCE.  He has been a great addition to our staff and will be greatly missed by so many of us. 

In his short time at our school, he has helped each of us with his determination and modeling how to work together in the best interest of the school.  Mr. Langley accomplished many tasks while here, however, one very visible way was his daily venture to the parking and bus lot!  Little did he know when he said "YES" to my request for him to come out of retirement, he would have to endure the Transportation situation.

Celebrations

Thank you!

Our breakfast was WONDERFUL on Friday 9/7!  It was a great way to end a very hectic four day week!  Thank you to the Teacher Assistants and Kindergarten Team for providing the goodies!

Celebrate Friday afternoon!  Our last bus left at 4:30!  WOO HOO!  Our students got home before dark!  Thank you again for the great job of staying positive this week while we continued to face the challenges of the Transportation changes.

New Staff:

Welcome to our newest staff members!

Sonja Beckham is our new Media Specialist.  Sonja joins us by way of the Chapel Hill school system, but is no stranger to WCPSS.  She worked at Baucom when they were year-round, and then assisted in the opening of Sanford Creek year round!

Dana Magoon will be joining our staff as Cathy Scala's new teacher assistant.  She is scheduled to join us on Wednesday.

Technology Updates:

The Technology Committe sent a survey September 5 to assess our current level of skills. Please complete the survey by Sept. 11.  http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RFCC2K3.  The information will be utilized in conjunction with our SIP in the development of our professional development.

Edmodo:  A group has been created for teachers to share instructional practices using iOS devices.  Group code: uq9xrw

Substitutes

We will have a 21st Century substitute this week. Please make certain to provide a grade level plan to me for her to use during the week.
